Anandra is from Hawaii, teaches frequently in Tokyo, and currently lives, sings, and teaches at an Indian ashram at the personal request of one of India’s most revered saints. After 20 years of practice and teaching, she created the world’s first 200-hour RYT focused entirely on the transformational power of sound.
On the Saturday two distinct workshops will take us deeper into the experience of sound as we learn accurate Sanskrit pronunciation to tune us into the subtle body in the “Sanskrit Body of Mantra Workshop”. In the afternoon explore mantra techniques to create profound inner connection and shift our stuck habits of the mind with “Mantra for the Modern Yogī”.
Sanskrit: The Body of Mantra
Saturday 29th Oct 9.30am-12.30pm
Experience the 50 letter vibrations of the Sanskrit alphabet, which correlate to the 50 petals on the chakras, energy points (marmas) in the body, and the primary energies and elements of creation (śaktis and tattvas). Learn to chant the alphabet, using the 5 precise mouth positions for Sanskrit, which will enable you to pronounce any Sanskrit word accurately in the future. WARNING: This workshop will supercharge your mantra/chanting/kīrtan practice with transcendent bliss, beyond the point of no return!
2. Mantra for the Modern Yogī
Saturday 29th Oct 2.30pm-5.30pm
In this information-packed workshop, learn the essential practice of mantra repetition for maintaining profound inner connection in the midst of modern life. We’ll cover the history and origin of the different types of mantras for different effects, how to work with the 4 levels of mental function according to Ayurvedic psychology, how to gracefully dissolve habitual negative thought patterns using mantra, and most importantly, Sunday evening we’ll discover the connection between the voice, sound and creation in a tantric meditative toning experience with “Vocal Bliss Nāda Yoga: The Self-Shining Voice”.
3. Vocal Bliss Nāda Yoga: The Self-Shining Voice
Sunday 3oth Oct 3pm -6pm
In this intimate meditative toning experience, we’ll explore subtle sacred sound through core Indian vocal techniques and rāga call-and-response. You’ll understand – and better yet – experience the tantric philosophy connecting sound and creation. Learn yogāsana and breath practices for the yoga of sound, to remove common mechanical obstacles to your most resonant voice. It’s designed as a training, so you can continue to reveal your unique, devotional voice at home in a fully supported, blissful daily singing practice.
